PARIS FASHION WEEK FW25 WITH MATT WEINBERGER

Paris Fashion week was a whirlwind of fun. We teamed up with Matt Weinberger to make a photo diary bringing us into snippets of his week as he ventured from runway to runway, shooting backstage and front of house at some of the most exciting shows of Paris Fashion Week.

Photography and words by Matt Weinberger.

Vaquera

My first show of the week. Backstage I fell in love with the hair and makeup. So gorgeous.

Acne Studios

Arrived and immediately was met by a sea of cool people. Bumped into my friend Harrison aka The Dare and got to chat with Bladee and Ecco2K who I had met at a past Acne Studios show. The collection was awesome.

Matières Fécales

Backstage was busy. Super ethereal collection. When I popped into the front of house I saw Michelle Lamy, who I had recently shot at party she hosted to celebrate the premier of Queendom. She was with her partner Rick Owens, who I had always wanted to meet. He was super chill and asked me about my camera. I had figured he was a photographer himself but he actually said he doesn’t shoot much. I also got to chat with Chappell Roan who I hadn’t photograph since she played Gov Ball dressed as the Statue of Liberty. She is the sweetest! Her stylist Genesis Webb was also super cool.

Caroline Hu

Beautiful garments. Great casting. Was really enjoying this collection. All the models were so kind and it was really a pleasure to shoot.

Casablanca

Backstage was great vibe. Colin Jones was giving great energy. Steinberg was cool as ever. All the hair, makeup, and stylists were working together in unison to bring together a bomb collection. JID pulled up. We met briefly but then after that I started running into him all week at a bunch of different parties. He is a major good vibe. And his security guard is a chiller.

Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester is one of my favorite designers right now. Backstage was a bit hectic but everything came together so nicely. The casting was great including super rad NYC based models like Malice K, Lulu Tenney and Betsy Gaghan. The front row was also filled with some of the rocker homies from back at home including The Hellp, Bec Lauder, Sunflower Bean, Gift, Alice Longyu Gao, and a very pregnant Eartheater. The show was great and left me feeling excited for what’s to come.

Enfants Riches Déprimés

Things were looking good backstage. Enfant Riche Déprimés is super hot right now amongst much of the indie fashion degenerates. The brand is really pushing boundaries and this collection didn’t disappoint. I had to leave early to make it to Balenciaga so I couldn’t stay for the show but from what I saw it looked super cool. I had a chance to catch up with Zoe Zimsek, Lux Gillespie, and Sephira Street. All of them seem to be crushing it and I’m excited to see what is next for them and for the brand at large.

Balenciaga

The Balenciaga show was a labyrinth. While for the models it was a super long runway, for the viewers like myself, the show flashed by super quickly. There was no finale, so we only had one shot to get a glimpse of each model as they turned down the runway. It was a solid last hurrah for Demna, as he just announced he is leaving the brand for Gucci. Jackie Klein was a standout model, looking like a fierce angel as she strutted down the runway. After the show I had a sec to snap some shots of newly famous movie star Mark Eydelshteyn alongside Alice Longyu Gao, as well as Danny Cole, Olivier Zahm, Morgan Maher and a few of the other cool attendees at the show. It was a great show to end off the week for me.
